Mineola resident Peter Koonanikal, 56, was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the street fair, after he allegedly approached a 14-year-old girl and grabbed her inappropriately.
Police said that his teenage victim took a picture of Koonanikal during the incident, and he proceeded to walk away. She proceeded to alert her parents, who found Koonanikal, who was then observed allegedly inappropriately touching a 12-year-old girl.
Officers from the Nassau County Police Department responded and Koonanikal was arrested without further incident.
Koonanikal was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of forcible touching. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, Sept. 23, at First District Court in Hempstead.
Detectives are asking anyone else who may have been victimized by Koonanikal to alert investigators at the Nassau County Police Department by calling (516) 573-6353.
